Magic Flute Set Design 2021-22

Pupils looked at David Hockney’s Magic Flute set concept as well as South African artist William Kentridge and German film-maker Lotte Reiniger. They worked collaboratively to construct a colourful interpretation of Mozart’s famous story, first premiered in 1791.

In this opera, the Queen of the Night persuades Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter Pamina from captivity under the high priest Sarastro; instead, he learns the high ideals of Sarastro's community and seeks to join it
