Analysis Pages 2021-22
Giving practical work produced by the pupils an art historical context is a vital part to the creative curriculum at WLFS. In preparation for the lino prints, pupils made a research page on Elizabeth Catlett, the American and Mexican artist known particularly for her depictions of the Black-American experience in the 20th century. Her graphic work supported the stylistic feel of the Year 8 lino prints based on the theme of ‘Identity’. As well as the work of Catlett, pupils also examined the work of Frida Khalo and considered ideas surrounding the female experience as conveyed through powerful visual imagery.
