10 Years of Creativity
at WLFS
The mural designed and made by the Art Department was inspired by artist Frank Stella who combines many influences in his work and is one of Mr Bacchi-Andreoli’s (Head of Art) favourite artists. We particularly like the marrying of maths with the visual elements. Mr Revie (Head of Maths) also helped with the cutting out of the shapes and there is a perfect ellipse as part of the cone shape!
The shapes and letters are all designed in a different style, reflecting not only the exciting diversity of pupils and staff at WLFS but also the different approaches to the curriculum that each subject has whilst also presenting a unified 'whole' in championing a classical liberal ethos.
The individual pieces are fixed onto a Cy Twombly style background to make the letters jump out more from the wall. Both artists challenged the artistic conventions of their times - an inspiration to us here at WLFS where we also try to push the boundaries and perceptions of what art can be and how it is made.
